McCrossin Foundations was subcontracted to drill thirty 72-inch diameter and fifteen 48-inch diameter shafts and rock sockets. The drilling was completed from barges and platforms. The drilled shafts were approximately 100 feet deep from the working surface and overburden ground conditions consisted of 30 feet of alternating levels of alluvial sands and gravels. The rock sockets were comprised of shale, siltstone and limestone that had unconfined compressive strengths approaching 20 kips.
