McCrossin Foundations was subcontracted to drill and install drilled shafts to support the addition to the Erie Insurance Arena. The drilled shafts ranged in diameter from 24 to 48 inches and were socketed into medium hard shale bedrock up to 30 feet. The phasing of the project made accessing the new shaft locations difficult, for much of the existing structure remained and was in use during construction (including underground utilities and the existing Mill Creek underground culvert).
