McCrossin Foundations was subcontracted to drill and install the drilled shafts for a replacement structure carrying multiple railroad tracks adjacent to the Beaver River in Rochester, Pennsylvania. Shafts are permanently cased through the soil section with 1 inch thick steel walled pipe. The soil section is 60-inch diameter and the rock socket portion is 54-inch in diameter. The soil portion was drilled through existing fills that were constructed to install the railroad and river colluvial materials. Shafts were socketed nearly 30 feet into medium hard to very hard sandstone and siltstone.
