Lafayette College Integrated Science Center
Project Description
McCrossin designed, furnished, and installed approximately 2,500-square feet of soldier pile and lagging temporary support of excavation systems for the demolition of existing facilities buildings onsite and the new construction of the 100,000-square foot Integrated science center that will house the college’s biology, computer science, and environmental studies.
During excavation, two surrounding buildings were found to require underpinning to support the foundations. Along with the design engineer, McCrossin offered soil nailing services to support the existing foundations resting on silty sands and weathered rock with minimal disturbance to the ongoing classes inside. McCrossin was able to complete the multiple scope project under budget and ahead of schedule.
