Project Description
McCrossin Foundations was subcontracted to design and install a support of excavation system for a new utility tunnel across Forbes Avenue in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, PA. The excavation was completed in multiple phases to maintain traffic flow on Forbes Avenue. The project was bid, designed and built in less than three months, and required multiple shifts to complete. The project included approximately 200 rock anchors and mesh, retaining the sidewalls of the excavation. The excavation consisted of fill materials, clayshale and blocky sandstone.
